Cake, Cake, and More…Cake

This past Sunday, we had the wonderful chance to go wedding cake tasting! (Insert happy dance here!) Ok, now back to what I was saying. We went to visit 2 very awesome cake places, here in the Atlanta area. I’m anxious to reveal them but I will have to keep them under wraps for right now until we make our final decision. Anywho…I had the pleasure of meeting the first lady at Bridalpalooza the week before. As soon, as I tasted her cake I knew, one of two things were going to happen.

A.) I was going to slap her because the cakes were so good or

B.) I was going to have to talk Dap into going to visit her so he could taste the greatness!

Thankfully, I opted to go with Option B. (I honestly don’t think she would have been too fond of the physical compliment of Option A anyways.)

So, like I said before, we went tasting on Sunday and let me tell you, she definitely did not disappoint! Her cakes were just as delicious as I remembered and Dap was impressed as well. This woman’s cakes gave me the feeling of being back home. For those of you, who don’t know, I’m actually from a small town in southern Georgia, which means that I do know what good cooking and baking tastes like! ;) Now the question for me is “Do I really want that much of a down home feeling at my wedding?”

But I didn’t have that much time to think about it because we had to rush to our next cake tasting appointment. (Stay tuned for next week’s “Becoming the Mrs.” post when I confess why we had to rush.) Surprisingly, the next cake lady turned out to be just as good as the first one! (Part of me was secretly hoping that she wasn’t going to be because I wanted our decision to be clear cut and easy.) Now, this second lady did have a higher price than the 1st but she was way more creative and willing to take a risk on the type of cake that we wanted. She showed us how she mixes various flavors and I honestly couldn’t believe how good everything tasted. She also came very highly recommended and she had pictures of other popular Atlanta people that she has baked for in the past.

So now the question is “Do we want to go with the safe yet tasty, down home type of cake for our big day or the creative and deliciously unique type of cake?” You know I really thought out of all the decisions we would have to make, that the cake would be the easiest. But that is definitely not playing out to be the case. I want it to be a cake that we both like but also one that our guests will enjoy as well. Because, as Dap said “We’re not taking all of that cake on our honeymoon!” ;) So, I’m hoping we will be able to make a final decision sometime within the next week because we also just received the information of yet another “great” cake lady. *Sigh* You all know, as always, I will keep you updated on this long and tedious cake tasting journey. It’s a shame to be us right now, hunh? Hahaha!!!

Why not get both cakes one for you and one for the groom. A lot of people are doing that these days what we did when we could not choose between 2 different cakes we had one cake for our guests and one for the wedding party the night of the rehearsal dinner. Good luck in choosing.

Thanks Kita! We just might have to consider it! I was thinking if we went with one and not the other, I was going to use the other for something in the future but the rehearsal dinner is a really good idea.
